A baby dies after being forgotten in a car in Samaria settlement

Mother and child stopped in the vicinity of the family daycare in the settlement of Avnei Hefetz, but for some reason she left her in the car; a few hours later, the mother returned to the car and found her daughter unconscious; the baby was pronounced dead later at the hospital.

The doctors of Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba had to pronounce a baby girl dead on Thursday afternoon, after having been recovered in critical condition from a car in which she had been forgotten.

An initial investigation revealed that the baby's mother arrived with her daughter, apparently in the morning hours, to the area of the family's daycare and for some reason, left her in the car, approx. 50 meters from the daycare center.

Orly Silvinger, the organization's director, saidm "This is one of the most difficult tragedies a parent can experience, and it is very important to remember that this event can happen to each of us in a moment of fatigue or when we do things automatically. Many cases of forgetfulness occur during a change in routine and when fatigued or under stress.

"We call upon the parents, especially now with the arrival of summer, to understand that additional safety measures must be taken, such as putting a purse or a phone next to the baby, installing an application or having telephone contact with one's partner and checking where the child is."
