Iran extends hand to new Hamas leader Haniyeh
Major general Qasem Soleimani, Iranian senior military officer in the Iranian army and commander of its Quds Force—a division primarily responsible for extraterritorial military and clandestine operations, has congratulated Ismail Haniyeh for his nomination as the New Hamas leader.
In his letter, Soleimani wrote that Iran hopes to strengthen its cooperation with Hamas and that they support their efforts in the "resistance against the Israeli occupation" and their holy war against the Zionists.
