Passengers apparently refused to pay a bus fare on Saturday night and physically assaulted the driver who confronted them.
According to the Kavim transportation company, at about 9:30 pm, the passengers boarded the 111 bus from Tel Aviv to Modi'in and headed towards the back to sit down. The driver followed them to insist on payment, and they are seen striking him in security footage from the bus.
Other passengers intervened before the altercation could escalate.
The company released a statement that reads in part, "Kavim's drivers are faced with complex situations every day, … and we do our utmost to prepare the drivers mentally so that they will be able to cope at the moment of truth and not be dragged into an altercation by the passengers."
They added: "The driver was attacked after asking for payment for the trip, and luckily the incident ended without injuries. The driver filed a complaint with the Israel Police."
