In his final verdict, retiring Supreme Court Justice Elyakim Rubinstein determined Tuesday the living space for prisoners at the Israel Prison Service must be made bigger.
According to Rubinstein, "the living space for a prison is 3.1 square meters. We reached the conclusion this size is not in line with the good of the state to ensure the right to live in dignity."
Prisoners' living space will therefore be increased to 4 square meters within the next nine months.
