Iran uses Star of David to mark target in ballistic missile test

'This missile test not only violates the UN Security Council's resolutions, it once more proves beyond any doubt Iran's true intentions to harm Israel,' Israeli Ambassador Danon tells UN Security Council after presenting it with satellite photos showing test.

Iran used a Star of David to mark the target when testing its medium-range Qiam ballistic missile last December, according to satellite photos Israel has presented to the UN.

"'This missile test not only violates the UN Security Council's resolutions, it once more proves beyond any doubt Iran's true intentions to harm Israel," Ambassador Danny Danon told the Security Council on Wednesday.

The Israeli ambassador called on the Security Council to take immediate actions against the Iranian threat. "Iran supports the regime of Bashar Assad, who is slaughtering hundreds of thousands of civilians in Syria, it funds Hezbollah, which threatens the citizens of Israel, and it supports terrorists and tyrants across the Middle East and around the world," he said.

"The Security Council must act immediately against this demonstration of hatred and Iran's provocative violations, which threaten the stability of the entire region," Danon added.

Last month, in a rare move, Iran attacked an ISIS base in Syria with ballistic missiles, with Iranian officials claiming this was also a warning for Israel.

The Islamic republic has been conducting ballistic missile tests since 2015, in violation of UN Security Council resolutions.
