Saudi security officer killed in Eastern Province attack
RIYADH -- A Saudi security officer was killed and six others injured on Thursday morning by an explosive device which targeted their patrol in eastern Saudi Arabia, said a statement carried by state news agency SPA.
The attack occurred in al-Awamiya, located in the oil-producing Eastern Province, a flashpoint between the Sunni Muslim government and minority Shi'ites complaining of discrimination.
