Arab rioting in Jaffa following police shooting and killing of suspected criminal

Following a shootput incident between police and suspected Arab criminals in Jaffa, in which one of the suspects was killed, Arab protestors began marching along Yefet St., burning tires, throwing objects and shouting chants against Arab profiling and police brutality.

MDA spokesman Zaki Heller reported earlier Saturday that two people were treated for gunshot wounds from a shooting in Jaffa on Friday night. One of the men, who initially was reported to be injured, later died of his wounds.

A police spokesman added that the shooting was carried out by police at suspects fleeing the scene of a crime, in which suspected criminals fired at each other. A chase ensued, during which shots were fired by police, wounding the suspects. As is customary in such cases, the circumstances of the incident were transferred to the PID for examination.
