Billionaire Sheldon Adelson, the owner of free Israeli daily Israel Hayom, reportedly told police that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had asked him to look into the possibility of nixing the paper's weekend supplements, Channel 2 News reported Saturday.
Adelson was testifying as part of the criminal investigation into Netanyahu's talks with Arnon Mozes, the owner of Israel Hayom's rival newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth—the so-called Case 2000. The prime minister was allegedly seeking more favorable coverage in return for acting to weaken Israel Hayom.
Channel 2 reported on Friday that police is expected to recommend an indictment be filed against the prime minister in this case as well.
