Report: Trump pressured to back potential Israeli operation against Hezbollah

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, which is affiliated with Hezbollah, reported from a "prominent figure" recently returned from Washington that US President Donald Trump was facing unprecedented pressure to support the implementation of a major Israeli military operation against Hezbollah in Lebanon and Syria, should one be required.
At the same time, the newspaper reported that during the visit of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri, the United States raised a proposal to significantly expand the size of the UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) force stationed in southern Lebanon and to place it on the Syrian border to prevent the transfer of illegal weapons.
