Givati brigade commander reprimanded for weapons theft
The chief of staff reprimanded the outgoing commander of the Givati Brigade, Col. Yaron Finkelman, following the theft of weapons from the Sde Teiman base.
Two other officers were reprimanded by the OC Southern Command, and the commander of the Sde Teiman base was deposed.
About 30 weapons were stolen about two months ago by contractors employed at the base.
Following the recommendations of the commission of inquiry that dealt with the matter, a new procedure will be set for the employment of contractors in military bases, and a special discussion will be held with the Deputy Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi, regarding the increased security of bases and bunkers.
