UN: Secretary-General never said he'd work to improve conditions of Palestinian prisoners
A spokesman for UN Secretary-General António Guterres published a clarification message following reports Guterres remarked in his Ramallah meeting: "We understand the suffering of Palestinian prisoners and are working to alleviate it."
Guterres found out a group of parents to Palestinian children who are incarcerated in Israel seeks to meet with him in order to present him with a petition calling him to act on the matter.
In light of the situation he indeed met with them to receive the petition. The spokesman denies, however, the quotes allegedly taken from the meeting, stressing "all of the quotes attributed to the Secretary-General are fabricated."
