Israel welcomes UNSC decision to renew UNIFIL mandate
Israel welcomed on Friday the UN Security Council's decision to renew the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
"The importance of the decision is in the call for UNIFIL to operate in a purposeful and meaningful way to prevent Hezbollah from getting a stronger hold on southern Lebanon," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Israel believes only determined actions by UNIFIL could contribute to maintaining stability, quiet and security on the Israel-Lebanon border."
