Traffic police officer, nearly run over, opens fire on vehicle

A traffic police officer opened fire at a vehicle at the Plugot Junction, near Kiryat Gat.
According to the officer, he signaled the vehicle to stop, but the driver continued driving straight towards him with no sign of stopping. Fearing for his life, the officer fired at the vehicles wheels.
The driver stopped at the side of the road and three passengers fled the scene.
The police are conducting searches for the passengers who escaped with the help of helicopters.
