Yossi Wasserman, former secretary-general of the Teachers' Union, was convicted of three counts of fraud and breach of trust, offenses against privacy, obstruction of justice and harassment of witnesses.

Wasserman admitted as part of a plea bargain that he used his position to promote his private affairs at the expense of the Histadrut.

The court sentenced Wasserman to community service, but the state announced that it would appeal and demand a prison sentence and a fine.
