Saudi Arabia: 'Claims of Saudi chief visiting Israel baseless'

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs published an announcement Sunday adamantly rejecting unconfirmed reports in "hostile media outlets" that a Saudi chief had recently visited Israel.

"The claim is baseless," the ministry stated.

"The kingdom has always been transparent on its moves and contacts and has nothing to hide in that regard. We will not be commenting further on what the hostile, lying media disseminates regarding the kingdom and its officials," a source within the ministry said.

The owner of a blog from the United Arab Emirates—whose credibility is debatable—published a post September alleging Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Mohammad Bin Salman Al Saud covertly met senior Israeli officials in Israel itself.

The post also claimed former Saudi general Anwar Eshki, who visited Israel in the past, was part of the Saudi delegation that allegedly accompanied Bin Salman. Eshki denied the blog's account in an interview to Russian Arab-language channel "Russia Al-Youm."
