While incoming Supreme Court President Esther Hayut was sworn in at the President's Residence, residents of south Tel Aviv protested outside on the High Court of Justice's rulings on illegal immigrants, which have become a known problem in the southern part of the city.
President Reuven Rivlin went out to the demonstrators, who called out to him to voice his opinion on the matter.
"Our people come before every other people," Rivlin answered. "You are all flesh of my flesh. Our duty is to you all as citizens of the state and therefore something needs to be done to help you. I came out to you because I see this as my duty."
