During security screening before a reception for Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, European press agency EPA's photographer Atef Safadi was asked to remove his pants.
Safadi refused, and in protest four other foreign photographers as well as a Channel 10 News team joined him in leaving the reception.
"The security division of the Prime Minister's Office follows protocol. The photographer was treated with courtesy and respect. Naturally, entering the PMO requires meticulous security screening. He chose not to complete the screening process, and we apologize for any distress he may have felt," said a commented by the Prime Minister's Office.
