40-year-old Ramallah resident indicted on attempted terrorism charges

Central District Attorney's Office submitted an indictement on Monday against Mohammad Safran, a 40-year-old resident of the central city of Ramallah, for planning a terrorist attack, endangering public safety in a transportation lane, grand theft auto, illegally entering and residing in Israel, driving without a license and additional charges.

 

The indictment states that Safran entered Israel with the intent of carrying out a nationalistically-motivated vehicular attack resulting in the killing of IDF soldiers.

 

It further states that on Oct. 19, 2017, Safran was spotted driving a truck after allegedly breaking and entering it. He is suspected of planning to use it to run down soldiers waiting at bus stop. Safran was stopped another individual who spotted and reported him to the police, which eventually led to Safran's arrest.
