The parole board accepted the request of the former Ramat Gan mayor Zvi Bar, who is serving out his prison sentence after being found guilty of bribery charges, on Tuesday.
Bar, who was also released from prison on Tuesday, will report to the police every two weeks and will be under house arrest at night.
Last month, President Rivlin decided to shorten his sentence from three years to 15 months.
