Justice minister on recommendations bill: 'Attempt to minimize damage to public figures'
Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked commented on MK David Amsalem's recommendations bill barring police from making indictment recommendations at Haifa University's "This Year in Israeli Law" conference, saying, "The law has to be approved by me as well as by the public security minister, and its text will be greatly softened."
"It refers mostly to public figures whose cases are closed a year or 18 months after police recommends to indict them, and they walk around with this black cloud hanging over their heads the entire time. Both public servants and public figures are people and we're trying to minimize the damage done to them under such circumstances," she said.
