Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is seeking to amend Basic Law: The Government in order to allow Minister of Health Yaakov Litzman (United Torah Judaism), who is expected to resign from his position in response to train works on Shabbat, to continue heading the Health Ministry in the position of deputy minister.
The amendment will allow the prime minister to bestow the authority of a minister to a deputy minister after a High Court decision two years ago forced Litzman to be appointed a minister.
