Israel Railways announced the cessation of rail traffic between Ashkelon and Sderot, according to security officials.
It is also reported that for the time being the southern rail traffic will end at the Netivot station, and the train traffic from the north will end in Ashkelon.
Buses were ordered to stations in Ashkelon, Sderot and Netivot for passenger transportation.
The order was given moments after an IDF post suffered mortar shelling near the Gaza Strip following a shooting incident near Nablus, in which a Palestinian died and two settlers were injured.
