More than 400 US Marine Corps soldiers will leave Raqqa to return to their homeland, after helping the Arab-Kurdish alliance to oust the Islamic State (IS) group from the Syrian city, the international anti-jihadist coalition said on Thursday.
"More than 400 Marines are preparing to return home" after the "IS's defeat in its former capital," Col. Ryan Dillon, spokesman for the international coalition, said on Twitter.
