CNN: White House prepared for temporary derailment of peace process
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Defense Secretary James Mattis and CIA Director Mike Pompeo have all argued against the recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, CNN reported on Wednesday.
White House officials told the news network the American administration is prepared for "derailment" of the peace process between Israel and the Palestinians.
"A lot of people put their heads into this decision to see how do we make this happen without at the same time throwing the peace process out of the window," one of the officials told CNN.
"We know there will be some short term pain, but think it will help in the long run," a second official said.
