Deri tells Netanyahu he will resign if Supermarket Bill does not pass
Interior Minister Aryeh Deri (Shas) communicated a message to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu saying he intended to resign from the government if the Supermarket Law—allowing him to overrule municipal bylaws to close supermarkets on Shabbat—did not pass.
Deri's message was communicated following difficulty by the coalition to drum up a majority for the bill and Yisrael Beytenu's announcement it will be breaking with the coalition in voting against it.
