European Jewish Association fears other countries to follow Austria in allowing anti-Semitic parties to join coalition
Director of the European Jewish Association Rabbi Menachem Margolin congratulated new Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz on the founding of his new government, which includes the far-right Freedom Party, some of whose members have made anti-Semitic statements in the past.
Rabbi Margolin did qualify his statement, however, by saying, "Since this isn't an internal Austrian affair but relates to the general state of Jews in Europe, it cannot be ignored that other governments may allow anti-Semitic parties to join coalitions based on the Austrian model."
