Understanding reached to improve employment terms of foreign embassy workers

Finance Ministry Director-General Shai Babad, Supervisor of Wages and Labor Agreements Eran Yakov and Histadrut Labor Federation Chairman Avi Nissankorn reached an understanding to improve the wages and employment terms of 1,000 local Israeli employees employed in some 90 embassies and consulates around the world.
Their improved conditions were approved Sunday by the inter-ministerial committee on wages and service conditions abroad.
As part of the agreement, the employees' salaries will be raised, their move abroad will be financed in return for an obligation to a minimal period of service, their pensions will be raised and each employee will receive an NIS 10,000 grant.
