106 medications, medical devices added to national healthcare basket

The committee for the national healthcare basket announced the addition of 106 medications and medical devices to the list at a cost of NIS 460 million. Among the medications included in the basket are the drug Nusinersen (marketed as Spinraza) for children with SMA muscle disease, drugs for lung cancer patients and metastatic breast cancer. The committee decided not to include the muscular dystrophy drug Duchenne after concluding that the studies on the drug were inadequate.
