Givatayim municipality approves Shabbat commerce

The Givatayim municipality has approved in a special session an amendment to municipal bylaws allowing businesses to remain open on Shabbat.
According to the approved amendment, businesses will be permitted to operate on Shabbat after an examination by a public committee approving each business by location and additional criteria, such as distance from synagogues and disturbing residents.
