Death penalty bill for terrorists passes preliminary Knesset reading

Lawmakers moved a step closer toward instituting the death penalty for terrorists in Israel Wednesday after the the Knesset approved in a preliminary reading a bill sponsored by Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman.

 

Fifty-two members of the Knesset voted in favor of the bill that has become a pet piece of legislation for Lieberman and his Yisrael Beytenu party, while 49 voted to toss it out.
