Rishon LeZion mayor returns to post after being removed due to corruption allegations

None

The mayor of Rishon LeZion, Dov Zur, who was arrested in early December in a large-scale corruption scandal also involving coalition chairman MK David Bitan (Likud), will return to work in two days.

Zur will be prohibited from participating in the deliberations of the Planning and Building Committee of the Rishon LeZion Municipality and the tenders committee for the next two months.

"He was happy to return to work," Zur's associates said.

Zur was expelled immediately after his arrest for 45 days from the municipality. He maintains his innocence on all allegations, which include bribery, breach of trust and tender fixing.
