Representatives from Israel and Poland have begun discussions about the latter country's Death Camp Law, prohibiting ascribing responsibility for Nazi crimes during World War Two to Poland, which aroused much controversy in Israel.
Foreign Affairs Ministry Director-General Yuval Rotem, who heads the Israeli delegation, told Polish Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bartosz Cichocki that, "We must ensure historical truth is preserved and that freedom of speech and research are not curtailed, and that fear of punishment in that regard is discussed and solved."
