Nationality Bill passed in first reading

None

A Joint Committee of the Knesset's House Committee and the Constitution, Law and Justice Committee approved, by a majority of nine to seven against, the Nationality Bill in first reading.

The bill seeks to anchor in a Basic Law the fact that Israel is a Jewish state, and establishes Hebrew as the state's official language and Jerusalem as its capital.
