State tells High Court 'high probabilility' that third country will take migrants

None

The state has responded to the High Court of Justice (HCJ) following a petition filed by rights groups against the deportation of illegal African migrants, saying that in light of a journey by a special envoy to one of the countries with which a deportation agreement had been signed—apparently Uganda—there is a high probability that the migrants will be deported there.

The country was referred to as the "third country" in an official statement to the court.

In light of the latest development, the state has asked for more time while matters are being clarified. The state added that there is no reason to release the remaining 200 additional migrants who are still being held at the Saharonim detention center.
