Knesset speaker at torch-lighting ceremony: 'We have cultivated a democratic oasis in Israel'
Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein spoke at the Mount Herzl torch-lighting ceremony for Israel's 70th Independence Day, and said, "In our 70 years of independence, we have reached tremendous achievements together. We have cultivated an oasis of democracy and together transformed our tiny country into an international technological juggernaut led by justice and morality."
"Connections, that's the secret to Israel's charm. Variety is the source of our strength, complexity the fuel in our growth engine," he added.
