Embattled former Lahav 443 commander resigns from police

None

Inspector Roni Rittman, who was forced to quit his post as commander of the Lahav 443 unit, a crime-fighting umbrella organization within the Israel Police, after he was accused of sexual misconduct, has announced his resignation from the Israel police, ending a 31-year-long career.

My public contribution will be greater after my retirement," he wrote in his resignation letter to Police Commissioner Roni Alsheik. "I would like to thank you for your steadfast and uncompromising stand alongside the law, the evidence, and no less important—moral values and justice."

Rittman was forced to retire after Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan refused to reinstate him in any position within the Israel Police due to the accusations against him.
