Netanyahu request, fails to get postponement on notwithstanding clause hearing

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday appealed to Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked to postpone the vote on the HCJ-circumventing legislation on asylum seekers taking place on Sunday.
Sources close to Shaked told Ynet this evening that the vote would be held as planned, and that the chairman of Bayit Yehudi, Naftali Bennett, announced that the vote would not be postponed.
"This coming Sunday we will bring the bill to vote and hopefully gain the prime minister's support," Bennett tweeted.
Ministers and Shaked are sponsoring a redrafting of a migrant deportation bill, this time including a notwithstanding clause that will effectively bar the High Court of Justice from striking the law down.
