Litzman skips meeting on proposed draft law despite threats to quit if it passes

The coalition's party leaders held a meeting Sunday on the proposed draft law after MKs from the Agudat Yisrael faction threatened to quit if it passes in its current version.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "the legislation must pass in the current Knesset session. We need to make decisions, reach agreements and bring the bill proposal to the government's approval in two weeks."

Shas leader Aryeh Deri and United Torah Judaism leader Yaakov Litzman, whose faction is the one making the threats, skipped the meeting.
