Police rebut claim soldier was lynched
While investigating a report of infiltrators from the West Bank, an IDF officer embarked on a vehicle pursuit that led him into the Arab village of Na’ura in northern Israel.
At some point he came across a wedding procession and being unfamiliar with local customs he assumed that the crowd had gathered to attack him. Panicking, he fired into the air.
As locals worked to calm the officer, police arrived at the scene and took him to the Afula police station.
