Rivlin to the McCain family: 'Israel lost a good friend'

President Reuven Rivlin sent a letter Sunday to the McCain family, following the passing of Sen. John McCain.
"We were saddened to learn of the passing of Mr. John McCain, a great American leader and a good friend of Israel. The people of Israel join me in sending you our deepest sympathy at this sad time.
While the United States of America has lost a great leader, we, in Israel have lost a good friend who believed in the importance of the strong ties between our two nations and whose statements and action made a most valuable contribution to reinforcing and nurturing those ties.
We send our sincere condolences to all the members of the McCain family at this time of your great loss," the letter read.
