US offers to withdraw from Syria in exchange for Iranian withdrawal

The Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar reported Tuesday that the United States had offered to withdraw from Syria in exchange for a full Iranian withdrawal from southern Syria.

According to the report, a secret meeting was held last week in Damascus between the American delegation and senior Syrian security officials.

During the meeting, US officials presented their Syrian counterparts with several demands in exchange for the US withdrawal, including the withdrawal of Iranian forces from southern Syria, Syrian guarantees that the United States would receive their "share of Syrian oil", and information regarding terrorist organization operating in Syria.
