Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Tuesday that there is "no place for hate on the streets of Germany" after violent clashes had erupted in Chemnitz during extreme right-wing demonstrations following the death of a German national by a group of immigrants.
"What we have seen has no place in a state of law," said the Chancellor at a press conference in Berlin.
