Minister Azoulay's health deteriorates amid cancer battle
Doctors called to home of Religious Services Minister David Azoulay as his condition worsens, two weeks after he was discharged from the hospital; Deri calls on public to pray for Azoulay's recovery.
The doctors of Religious Services Minister David Azoulay were called to his home in Haifa on Monday night after his condition worsened amid his battle with cancer.
Minister Azoulay, 64, was discharged from the Hadassah Medical Center in Jerusalem's Ein Karem two weeks ago.
Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, who heads the Shas party, has called on the public to "pray for the full recovery of Religious Services Minister David Azoulay, may the Lord preserve and keep him alive. David, son of Perla, who needs great mercy from the Heavens. The great G-d will not grow tired of the prayers of many."
Because of his treatments, Azoulay has often missed Knesset sessions. He was supposed to resign from the parliament in January but stayed on until March. He was replaced in the Knesset by his son Yinon Azoulay.
