Russia says it offered to host Israeli-Palestinian summit

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday that during Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent visit to Moscow, Russian President Vladimir Putin offered to host him and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas for a joint summit.

However, an unnamed Israeli official said in response that “the issue wasn’t discussed.”

According to Lavrov, Russia’s stand is that negotiation between Israel and the Palestinians have to resume as soon as possible.
