Chair of the Central Election Committee, judge Hanan Melcer, ordered Tuesday night an investigation into the Likud Party’s campaign following the“moving to to the right” move the party operated, that included targeting possible voters and approaching them without identifying as Likud members.
According to Melcer, alleged accusations against the Likud call for a police investigation, to be completed within three months and its finds handed to the Attorney General and State Comptroller.
The Likud party was also banned from publishing campaign materials that highlight activists being “non- party related” and was fined NIS 15,000.
In response, the party plans to approach Melcer and the committee and ask for a second discussion on the matter.
