U.S. to fund renovation of ancient biblical Jewish tomb in Iraq

The American consulate in Iraq announced Friday it will transfer $1 million for the renovation of the tomb of prophet Nahum, who is believed to be buried in an ancient synagogue in the city of Elkosh.

 

Joey Hood, the Chargé d'affaires of the U.S. Mission in Iraq, announced the decision during his visit to the 2,700 year-old tomb.
