Outrage as education minister backs gay conversion therapy

Education Minister Rafi Peretz is under fire for his apparent support for gay conversion therapy.

"It can be done, and I have done it," said Peretz, the head of the Jewish Home party, of the discredited process that claims to "cure" people of homosexuality.

His comments drew criticism from LGBTQ groups, Opposition Leader Benny Gantz, Labor leader Amir Peretz, and other senior political figures. 

Meretz leader Nitzan Horowitz, who is gay, said: "You are not the minister of education, you are the minister of darkness."

Multiple sources have called for his dismissal.
