2 youths arrested over theft of NIS 250,000 from ATMs

None

Two youths from Ashdod are arrested on suspicion of stealing NIS 250,000 (approx. $70,000)  from ATMs across Israel.

An investigation into the thefts found that ATMs from which the money was stolen had had a chip installed that could copy card data as well as a camera placed in a hidden area of the keypad.

The suspects would allegedly return to the ATMs several hours after the decices were installed, collect card data, burn it onto blank cards and use them to withdraw money.

The two suspects are expected to be indicted Tuesday, and police are seeking detention for both until the end of the legal proceedings against them.
