Blue and White Chair Benny Gantz said Thursday that his party will do what is best for Israel when asked if he would consider a unity government with Netanyahu in the lead, in light of the U.S. peace plan, but soon after stated that he "is here to replace Netanyahu".

"Israel comes first, we will do what's good for Israel," said Gantz when he arrived in the Knesset to hand in his party's list for the September 17 elections.

A few minutes later, when confronted with what he had said, Gantz said that "perhaps I didn't hear the question properly, I'm here to replace Netanyahu."
