Rivlin may tap Netanyahu to try to build a coalition government

President Reuven Rivlin is considering tasking Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with forming a coalition government as soon as this evening regardless of development in negotiations between the two major parties.

Rivlin will meet the two candidates for the premiership on Wednesday as part of his efforts to promote a unity government made up of the two major parties.

Rivlin's move may be in the interest of speeding up negotiations.
